Abstract
The purpose of this project was to explore the landscape of Fire and Life Safety Education (FLSE) as provided by a local fire and emergency services department within the local school system and develop a strategy for delivering adequate, timely, and transferrable FLSE to students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. The author evaluated existing programs, resources, and procedures alongside the specific needs and risks of the community and the department’s program delivery capabilities. The result is a proposed FLSE program that provides a comprehensive and consistent methodology with measurable outcomes and ongoing assessments to gauge the program's effectiveness and provide a basis for continuous improvement.
