Abstract
This study will track the progress of gender on RuPaul’s Drag Race through contestant presentation, commentary by the judges, and winners of the seasons. Each season will be analyzed for clues to how the traditional gendered ideals of heterosexual presentation were observed or ignored by contestants of the show. This study hopes to shed light on the acceptance of nongendered presentation and the failure and success of such. Additionally, this study will look at the timeline of gendered growth in correlation with how producers of the show felt it necessary. The focus on personal narratives of the contestants allows viewers to see the coloration between many identities and presentations.
