Abstract

Many girls would kill for the opportunity to make it in the modeling world, but with one foot in the door already, Sloane seems less than thrilled. When the chance arrises to visit the famed Arion Hotel, a training ground for up-and-coming models run by the mysterious photographer Louis Lord, even she cannot pass it up.

However, the hotel does not appear to be all it was promised. Outdated, isolated and nearly empty-- save for a small group of Lord's friends and employees, Sloane finds herself in an unfamiliar and strange world. All this she could bear, but the appearance of a frightening specter, the Blue Haired Woman, challenges her perception of both the hotel and herself. What reason does she have to be beautiful in this run-down labyrinth of strange and controlling men? Where have the other girls gone from here? Is there a future for her in this industry, or is the demand on her body more than a person can handle?

In "Anemoia," access to power and access to bodies are one and the same, and those who hold beauty captive are prone to destroy it. But what does beauty become once it has been captured on film, and can the soul linger when the body is gone?
