Abstract
Coffee has long fueled the minds of many people in the world, but only recently have discussions on its production and sourcing methods started to come to light with the advent of the fair trade movement. Within the modern fair trade coffee movements, great weight is placed on the analysis of the lingering effects of colonialism in the coffee industry. In this paper, I argue that the effects of colonialism are perpetuated by Starbucks because of their lack of educational efforts towards consumers on the motivations and goals of fair trade coffee movements.
