Abstract
Stitches is a play written by Michael Tobin in completion of his MFA in Playwriting from Hollins University. The play explores the tension between human striving and the inexorable forces of time, mortality, and cosmic order through a mythic realist lens.
When Time threatens her father, Melody banishes her to protect him. But in so doing, she upsets the balance of the world, setting off an epic journey to restore balance. Along the way she and those around her wrestle with the burdens of the world, the pursuit of something greater, and the frailty of humanity, eventually finding redemption in surrender.
