Abstract
This essay examines the hiring process for a college president in the United States, the qualification of a college president and the impact that Generation Z will have on institutions hiring college presidents. Generation Z is requiring more than previous generations and colleges and universities must be mindful of their needs as they hire new presidents. As candidates are considered key qualifications must be reviewed including their education background, previous career path, their leadership style, and personal behaviors and characteristics. Hiring teams and Board of Trustees will need to use specific hiring practices to lead their way while also determining what will be best for their campus, community, students, and stakeholders.
