Description

Lella Baker is a pre-Google graduate of Hollins College. She graduated with a major in History and what would have been a minor in German, but minors were first available the next year. Lella obtained a Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Andover-Newton Theological School which is part of Yale University.

Her first job from Hollins was working in software contract licensing for GE Capital where she became the youngest business development manager in her division. After leaving GE, she worked for Compaq (later HP) in customer logistics for large scale server farm deployments. At Compaq she received the Gold Quest Award for her work on the Pitt Supercomputer project which at the time was the largest server deployment in an academic setting.

After working as a NICU Chaplain, Lella began her career in quality compliance in the medical device and pharmaceutical industry. She obtained her first job in the industry because her manager opted to interview her because he “once dated a Hollins grad and she dumped me. But I knew you knew how to read, think, and question because of where you went to school.”

For 12 years, Lella worked in reporting investigating product complaints, reporting adverse events, and developing post-market systems. In 2019, she transitioned to clinical research. Currently, she is employed by Replimune where she is a certified Clinical Quality Auditor responsible for auditing clinical trial sites and vendors. She logs roughly 100,000 miles a year on Delta and has mastered exactly what time she needs to leave her condo to be on board the 5:40 am flight to Atlanta.

In her spare time, Lella volunteers with Break the Silence Sunday within the UCC. She has also served as a class reporter. Lella lives outside of Boston where her life is managed by two cats, Jean Lafitte and Sir Windsor Alexander (SFB).
