Abstract

The purpose of this project was to use autoethnography to investigate the emotional labor required of teachers engaged in hybrid teaching. Autoethnography is a form of qualitative research which uses the author’s personal experience to highlight and make sense of greater cultural issues. The author utilized the method of autoethnography to link the author’s personal experiences teaching at a small independent school during the Covid-19 pandemic to the cultural expectations of teachers in the present era, particularly with regard to emotions and emotional labor.
