Individual Presentation or Panel Title

Campaign Interest and Presidential Election

Abstract

The purpose of this research study is to examine the reflective relationship regarding close following of the candidates through the presidential election campaign of the year 2008 in terms of educational background. The affiliations between campaign year and education resulting in the following of the candidates each play a vital distinctive role. According to Glaeser, Ponzetto and Shleifer (2007, p.77-99) education raise the benefits of civic engagement and raises participation. The outcome of the voting decisions based on the results of the 2008 presidential election show a linking relationship between campaign interest, education and voting outcome. The methodology I will be using to extract the results of this data is going to be directly transferred from SETUPS. The frequency distribution and column percentage will further provide operationalized support for my proposal. I expect that those that have been closely following the presidential campaign year are voters that have high levels of education. However at the same time I will also be taking into account the majority of the voters who are young adults.
